イベント概要

2022年、2023年と連続して開催され大きな話題となった「AMBIENT KYOTO」。SHIZUKA Stillness Panel とSHIZUKA Stillness Panel SDMが会場内に配置され、音と光の展示をサポートさせていただきました。京都の中心地、周囲は交通も激しい中、当社のパネルを設置することで静寂な空間を実現し非日常の体験を実現しました。日常的な音のはずなのに、その瞬間だけ現れすぐに消える。映像や光が加わることで、毎回聴くたびに異なる風景が浮かび上がってきます。

会場は築90年の歴史ある建物、京都中央信用金庫旧厚生センターをメインとしています。隣接する東本願寺と一緒に世界最大級のアンビエント・ミュージックの展示会を開催しました。会場内には、ブライアン・イーノの代表作である《77 Million Paintings》《The Ship》《Light Boxes》の3作品すべてが一堂に会するのに加え、世界初公開となる作品《Face to Face》が展示され、コロナ禍にも関わらず、日本・世界中から来場者が訪れました。

Brian Eno(ブライアン・イーノ）様　Profile

ミュージシャン、プロデューサー、ビジュアル・アーティストとして世界のシーンを牽引してきました。70年代初頭にイギリスのロックバンド、ロキシー・ミュージックの創設メンバーの一人として世界的に注目を集めた。その後、一連のソロ作品やデヴィッド・ボウイ（『ロウ』、『ヒーローズ』等）、U2（『ヨシュア・トゥリー』、『アクトン・ベイビー』等）様々なコラボレーション作品を世に送り出してきました。その活動の中で特筆すべきことは、イーノが提唱した「アンビエント・ミュージック」です。環境の音それ自体が音楽となるように作られたアンビエント・ミュージックは、20世紀の音楽文化におけるもっとも重要な革命のひとつと言われています。

Overview

The “Brian Eno Ambient Kyoto” exhibition, held at the historic Kyoto Chuo Shinkin Bank Former Welfare Center from June 3 to August 21, 2022, featured immersive sound‑and‑light installations by the legendary ambient music pioneer Brian Eno. SHIZUKA Stillness Panel and SHIZUKA SDM Panels were installed throughout the venue to support the exhibition’s soundscapes and provide acoustic control in an urban environment.:contentReference

Challenges

The exhibition took place in central Kyoto, adjacent to busy streets and traffic noise. To preserve the ambient experience and ensure clarity of sound from Eno’s installations, it was essential to create localized quiet zones and reduce external acoustic interference.:contentReference

SHIZUKA panels (Stillness Panel and SDM) were strategically placed within the exhibition space to dampen environmental noise and enhance spatial acoustics:
