【導入理由】
私の個人練習室は、構造的に細長い形状をしており、ドラム演奏時に特定の帯域で強い共振が発生しやすい環境でした。特にキックやフロアタムを中心とした中低域では、不要な響きが付加され、演奏者が意図したアタックやダイナミクスが正確に反映されない場面が多くありました。ドラマーの立場から見ると、こうした空間的な共振はスティックタッチの明瞭度を損ない、マイキング時に不要な残響が重なる原因となり、結果としてレコーディング工程で過度な処理を必要とする要因になります。
また、同一空間でボーカルや他の楽器を録音する際、ドラムセットを物理的に分離することが難しく、セッティングの解体や録音スケジュールの分断を余儀なくされる点も課題でした。これらの問題を解決し、ドラマーとしてより正確にサウンドをコントロールできる環境を構築するため、SHIZUKA Stillness Panel を導入しました。
【導入効果】
設置後、演奏時の空間レスポンスが明らかに変化しました。不要な共振が抑えられ、ストロークに対するアタックと音の立ち上がりがより明確に感じられるようになりました。
ドラムマイキングにおいても、これまで後追いしていた不要な響きが軽減され、キックやタムの低域が整理された状態で収音できるようになりました。その結果、より明瞭で輪郭のはっきりしたドラムサウンドを得ることができています。空間の残響自体は以前より抑えられましたが、単にデッドになるのではなく、「必要な音だけが残る」バランスの取れた環境になったと感じています。
さらに、ボーカルや他楽器の録音時には、ドラムと録音対象の間にSHIZUKA Stillness Panelを設置することで、ドラムを解体することなく空間分離が可能となり、作業効率と柔軟性が大きく向上しました。

チェ・ジフン様(JI HUN CHOI)は、レコーディング、ライブ、コンサートを横断して活動するプロフェッショナル・ドラマーです。
K2（キム・ソンミョン）、キム・ジャンフン、中食い、イ・ヒムン、イ・ジョンボン、イ・ギュソク、ユミ、ミギョ、スニ、ユピリバンド、イ・ジョンシク、チョ・ヨンエなど、多数のアーティストのアルバムレコーディングおよびライブに参加。インディプロジェクトでは、モノイプロジェクト、As Mood、Himitsu、S.E.D などの活動にも携わっています。
また、バーチャルアイドル「異世界アイドル」メンバー アイネ の単独コンサートではメインドラマーを務め、オリンピック公園K-アートホール公演、国楽・オーケストラ公演など、多様な舞台で演奏経験を重ねています。
現在は K2バンド ドラマー、順福音ウォンダン教会 メインドラマー／バンドマスター、レコーディングスタジオ「Choice Studio」代表としても活動しています。

【Reason for Adoption】
My personal rehearsal room is long and narrow in shape, which structurally causes excessive resonance in specific frequency ranges during drum performance. In particular, the low-mid frequencies of the kick and floor tom tended to build up unnaturally, making it difficult to accurately reflect intended attack and dynamics. From a drummer’s perspective, such room resonance blurs stick articulation, introduces unwanted decay during close miking, and often forces excessive processing at the recording stage.
Another practical challenge was recording vocals or other instruments in the same space. Physically separating the drum kit was difficult, often requiring the kit to be dismantled or recording schedules to be divided. To address these issues and gain more precise control over both performance feel and recorded sound, I decided to introduce the SHIZUKA Stillness Panel.
【Results and Effectiveness】
Immediately after installation, the room response during performance became noticeably more controlled. Unwanted resonance was reduced, allowing clearer perception of stick attack and note definition.
During drum miking, unnecessary trailing reflections were significantly minimized. The low frequencies of the kick and toms became tighter and more focused, resulting in clearer and more articulate recordings.
While overall room ambience was reduced, the space did not become unnaturally dead. Instead, it felt balanced—retaining only the essential sound elements needed for accurate performance and recording judgment.
Additionally, when recording vocals or other instruments, placing the SHIZUKA Panel between the drum kit and the recording source enabled effective spatial separation without dismantling the drums. This greatly improved workflow efficiency and flexibility in the studio.

Choi Jihoon is a professional drummer active across recording, live performance, and concert productions.
He has participated in album recordings and live performances for numerous artists including K2 (Kim Sung-myun), Kim Jang-hoon, Joongshik, Lee Hee-moon, Lee Jung-bong, Lee Kyu-seok, Yumi, Migyo, Sooni, Yupiri Band, Lee Jung-sik, and Cho Young-ae His project work includes indie bands such as Monoi Project, As Mood, Himitsu, and S.E.D.
He has also served as the main drummer for the solo concert of virtual idol INE from “Isegye Idol,” and has performed at major venues including Olympic Park K-Art Hall, traditional Korean music concerts, and orchestral productions.
Currently, he is active as: Drummer for K2 Band, Main drummer and bandmaster at Full Gospel Wondang Church, Owner and chief engineer of Choice Recording Studio
