SDM1800の最初の出会いはBEWEST本店のブースが広く、音の反射に困っていた時にとりあえず2枚導入してみようということでマイクの後ろ側に立てた時に圧倒的な吸音でフロントの反射が減ったのが始まりでした。今はBEWESTの3店舗で20枚近く所有しています。もしかしたら国内スタジオで上位5本の指に入るくらい所有しているかもしれません。笑
SDM1800の用途は本当に様々です。
ブースでの調音はもちろん、BEWESTは3店舗ともDolby Atmos対応のレコーディングスタジオのため、コントロールルームのルームアコースティックがとても重要なのですが、そこでも音の反射を抑制するため、フロントはもちろん、サイドやリアのスピーカーの背面にも設置しています。ルームアコースティックはいろんな要素が絡んでくるのですが、SDM1800のお陰でDSP補正が最小限に抑えられてます。

Case Study: SHIZUKA SDM1800 Panels Installed at Studio BEWEST (Japan)
Overview
Studio BEWEST is a multi-location recording facility based in Okayama and Tsuyama, Japan, featuring full Dolby Atmos support and top-tier acoustic environments. In 2025, the studio began using SHIZUKA Stillness Panel SDM1800 to improve clarity in vocal and instrument recording and optimize room acoustics in their control rooms.
Challenges
At Studio BEWEST’s main booth, engineers reported excessive reflections and boominess that affected microphone performance. Even after initial installation of two SDM1800 panels, they recognized the need for more extensive acoustic absorption across control and mixing spaces.
Solution
- Initial installation: 2 × SDM1800 panels placed behind microphones.
- As effectiveness became clear, the studio expanded to nearly 20 SDM1800 panels across their three locations.
- Panels were installed around front, side, and rear of speakers to minimize reflections throughout the Dolby Atmos control rooms.
Results
- Significant reduction in acoustic reflections, improving vocal clarity especially in the low–mid frequency band.
- Optimized room acoustics meant minimal need for DSP correction, allowing engineers to work in more natural sound conditions.
- Panel coverage now ranks among Japan’s top five studios in terms of SDM1800 panel count.
