録音時のガラス音の反響対策、MIX・マスタリング時の初期反射対策

SHIZUKA Stillness Panel SDM1800を４セット導入いただきました。ガラスで区切られた部屋のため、録音時・MIX・マスタリング時に反響音に悩まされていたそうです。マイク周りにSDMを２セット配置することで、不要な反射を吸音し、２セットはスピーカー面に配置することでより正確な音の聴き取りを可能としました。

ホームスタジオである目黒のモウリ・アートワークススタジオは、コントロールルームと録音ブースの間が全面ガラス張りになっているため、その反射に随分と悩まされてきました。そんなところに現れたこのSHIZUKA Stillness Panel SDM。最初に感じたのは恐ろしく位相が良くなったこと。以前の音像を鉛筆の濃さで例えるとHBくらいだったとすると、2Bくらいのくっきりとした輪郭になったかのようです。低音の吸収性の良さも特筆すべきですが、加えて中高音のピークを柔らかくもしてくれました。すっきりとした音像を得ることができ、仕事の効率がすごくよくなりました。歌の録音にも絶大な効果を発揮します。大きく張りのある声の方の場合、声の初期反射がマイクにかぶってくるために部屋の広さが分かってしまうことがあります。SHIZUKA Stillness Panel SDMをマイク周りに設置することによりほぼ解決します。アイディアや考え方で様々なことができると思います。
飯尾 芳史氏Profile:
1979年アルファレコード入社。細野晴臣『フィルハーモニー』を皮 切りに、¥ENレーベルのほとんどの作品を手がけ、1983年にフリーランスとして渡英。トニー・ヴィスコンティのスタジオでエンジニアリングとプロデュースのノウハウを学ぶ。その後オフィス・イン テンツィオを経て1986年に藤井丈司らと株式会社トップを、1999年に株式会社アップアップを設立。2010年より再びオフィス・インテンツィオ所属となり多くのミキシングやプロデュース、アレンジも担当している。

Case Study: SHIZUKA SDM1800 Panels Installed at Mouri Art Works Studio (Meguro, Tokyo)
Overview
Mouri Art Works Studio, a home recording facility in Meguro, Tokyo, features a control room separated from the recording booth by a full glass partition. This design caused significant reflection issues, impacting recording clarity. In July 2025, the studio installed SHIZUKA Stillness Panel SDM1800 to address these acoustic challenges.
Challenges
The all-glass partition between the control room and booth produced unwanted reflections during both recording and mixing/mastering sessions. These reflections degraded phase accuracy and clarity in both vocals and instruments.
Solution
- Installed 4 sets of SDM1800 panels:
- 2 sets placed around microphones to absorb first reflections
- 2 sets positioned near speaker surfaces to enable more accurate monitoring
- This modular and repositionable setup addressed reflection issues across frequencies.
Results
- Noticeably improved phase coherence and sharper sound imaging (from roughly HB to 2B pencil clarity)
- Excellent low-frequency absorption with smoother mid/high peaks
- More efficient workflow and significant benefits for vocal recording in particular
